Maha Samadhi Day Celebrations - 2012
Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba discarded HIS DIVINE PHYSICAL FORM on 24th April 2011. Considering the significance of this event, many suggestions were discussed, as to how the Maha Samadhi Day should be celebrated in Sri Lanka. Taking cognizance of the fact that Bhagavan’s Devotees are widespread in almost all parts of Sri Lanka, it was thought that the celebrations should be almost uniform in the Five Regions. Travelling on these lines, the Central Council designed a program to suit all Regions. Regions in operation are the Western & Southern, North, East, North Central and Central. A consensus was reached on the program scheduled for this celebration, in consultation with the respective Region Chairman.
Accordingly, it was decided to conduct a 12 Hour Akanda Bhajan on Tuesday 24th April, in culmination of all other Spiritual & Seva Activities planned ahead of this date. Sunday 22nd April was scheduled for a Walk named “ Sarva Dharma Sai Shanthi Walk”, to be held in all Regions.
As the event is to remember Bhagavan leaving HIS Divine Physical Form , the walk was designed to carry Bhagavan’s Divine Messages , based on the following :-
WE ARE DUTY BOUND AS DEVOTEES TO LOVE HIS MISSION, VISION AND VALUES.
HE WALKED AMONG US SPREADING LOVE.
HE WALKED AMONG US INCULCATING VALUES.
ITS TIME FOR US TO LIVE HIS VALUES.
HIS DIVINE MESSAGE IS NOT EXCLUSIVE TO THE DEVOTEES
TO THE UNIVERSE
LET US RE-COUP OURSELVES AND PARTICIPATE IN THE WALK CARRYING HIS DIVINE MESSAGE.
FOSTER LOVE & PEACE TO OUR MOTHERLAND AND THE WORLD AT LARGE BY CHANTING HIS NAME SINGING HIS GLORY, DRIVING AWAY NEGATIVES AND BRINGING IN POSITIVES TO OUR THOUGHTS.
Besides, each Region was to identify a Village to implement Bhagavan’s SSSVIP ( Sri Sathya Sai Village Integrated Program ). This program was to be preceded by a “need assessment”, on the following basis :-
1. The individual ( Health / Income / Education issues / )
2. The Family (Housing / Women development / Child care / Nutrition )
3. Village Needs (Access to Drinking Water / Electricity / better livelihood opportunity/ Community management of local resources / Quality of School Education / Youth Development)

SRI SATHYA SAI VILLAGE INTEGRATED PROGRAMME 1 - SSSVIP
SSSVIP was launched in the Eastern Region in Nehrupuram a Village in the Ampara District. This is a small, remote village having 18 Houses and populated by 76 People. Houses are not in good condition. They do not have Toilets , Pure Drinking Water and Electricity. Hygienic conditions were very low.
Why upliftment is needed ?
Community draws drinking water from an Unsafe common Well, which is in a very high Un-Hygienic state. It is reported that there has been a death of a child, when that child had to go pass that Well. Further, as there are no toilets , any part of the land is used for this purpose. During Rains, all these dirt get washed down into the Un-safe Well.
Lack of Electricity supply endangers the Life as Elephants visit in the Nights. Presently, Crackers are thrown for Elephants to retreat, but this is not the best solution. Elephants even damage the buildings etc.
Community practices Hinduism, seem to be pious and God fearing. However, Value Education is essential for Children and Adults. Houses are relatively tiny, has bare minimum space, preclude having a Shrine.
|Seva Needed |
Merciful Grace of Bhagavan has enabled implementing SSSVIP in this village, and a Toilet for each house has been constructed. Pipe borne water supply and electricity would be provided in short time. A Bhajan Hall is to be constructed. Regular Bhajans are conducted under a shed at present on Fridays, and the Villagers are Greeting each other “ Sai Ram “. A Spiritual Transformation is expected, with the Bal Vikas and Value Education that is to be commenced.Present state of the village
Our Prayers to our Beloved Lord is to make this a model “Sai Village”.
